5 Reviews of the Cosenza 500
By: Tony Burton Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2009 Rating:
We love this tent. We used it for 6 weeks in our first year, then we bought a caravan so haven't used it so much. We did have one problem with a seam failing on the front door. Our dealer was quite happy to send it off for a free repair even though it was over 12 months old. Now if its very windy we tie in an inside guy line across the two poles that stretch across the front door. This should prevent it ripping again. We've also had one of the main pole sections fail in windy conditions and have replaced it.

We needed a tent big enough to cater for our dog crate and the two of us, this one fits the bill and we have been away in it 2/3 times a year for the past 3 years to various sites. I like the space it gives you. The only downside can be the weather although have manage to get it up in high winds and just recently withstood a 3 hours torrential rainfall.

This is my favourite tent - ever. We have had a few to say the least. I love the bathtub inner - a must in the UK I feel. I like the colour - we have a green one, which makes the inside light and airy, plus big windows and the fact that it has three doors - the porch, and two doors on each side, so the tent is really adaptable for light and you can have the breeze in the heat, or warmth in the cold. I had a long search to find a 4 man tent with a porch big enough for a kitchen area and an inside space big enough for a table and chairs. We have used it when there are just the two of us for weekends, for week long stays when there is just myself and my two kids and also I took it away with a friend and we put three 11 year olds in the bedroom with my friend and my self using the living area to sleep in. There was loads of room. It's quick to put up, it takes me about 30 mins with a little help. I wouldn't want to put it up in the rain though as the inner goes up first and the waterproof outer goes over the top. A fab and versatile tent with good quality materials, poles and guys/pegs.

After a long search I found the tent I was looking for and it has exceeded expectations. The double-skin living area is a must for me (shame this isn't a criteria you can search on!) so it took me ages until I came across the Cosenza. I concur with all Jemwhi's points. I am happy with the bedroom size - makes for a nice spacious double room, so ideal for a couple and you can stand up fully in there. The porch is just about big enough to use as a kitchen although for the longer holiday I added a Kyham extension. Many dome tents feel claustrophobic when you're in the living area (eg on rainy days) but the big windows and wide porch of the Cosenza don't give you this feeling. For a week my son and 3 friends used it, they all had air beds so slept in the living area and used the sleeping part for their bags.
It stood up well to very windy conditions (although I did add extra guys on the windward side, and used Delta pegs). There is some tearing beside the zip of the main door and the bedroom door, but this may be because it wasn't put up quite right last time (not by me!)leaving too much tension on it - a hazard of all-in-one inners? Overall, an ideal tent for a couple needing a decent double-skin living space and porch, and works as the family base if you've got various children around the campsite sharing with their friends.

We upgraded this year from a small 3 man tent to the Easycamp Cosenza 500. Following our first trip away at Easter we were very impressed at how spacious the tent is, particularly the living space. If you camp in all weathers the separate porch will be really useful for taking off wet and muddy boots and coats before entering living space. Having doors on all 3 sides gives you lot of options in terms of which way round to pitch the tent. We were also impressed with the sewn in ground sheet and the number of windows. Putting it up was easy but it is worth spending time getting the tension right with the fly sheet.
However, a double air bed takes up the whole bedroom! It would only sleep 4 people without air beds. We were concerned about the quality of Easycamp, it not being a well known brand but I would recommend them to anyone!

The Cosenza 500 is a 4 berth tent and a real winner in terms of design with its large living area and bedroom (with divider) all within the one enclosed groundsheet area. The main living area has 2 further doors for both access and ventilation allowing plenty of light in, but with mesh screen doors keeping the insects out. A fantastic family tent giving good enclosed space for an excellent camping experience for couples and families alike!
